The Environmental Risk Management (ERI) team saw one of its members sail into the sunset when long-time employee Chip Padgett officially retired on June 30th, 2023. Before we let him go, however, the team marked this special occasion by gathering at Suffolk Punch Brewing in South Charlotte.
Chip embarked on his journey with ERI 18 years ago, taking on the role of an Environmental Risk Analyst. At that time, ERI’s office was located within what was then Wachovia Bank in downtown Charlotte. As ERI’s client base expanded, Chip was transferred to ERI’s University Office, where the team operates today. Over the years, Chip accumulated a wealth of experience in reviewing due diligence reports and evaluating environmental risk across various property types. His skillset included generating Desktop Reviews, Records Search with Risk Assessment reports, processing and reviewing Regulatory Database Reports, and reviewing Phase I and Phase II Site Assessment reports. Chip’s deep understanding of the concerns faced by bankers during the environmental review process made him a trusted guide for ERI’s customers. He primarily served ERI’s Chicago clients and provided expert guidance on policy and environmental due diligence matters.
Chip is a man of many passions. He once ran a successful photography studio, and after joining the team, he often utilized his photography talents to capture memorable moments of the team. In fact, many of the profile pictures on our company intranet were taken by Chip.
Beyond his professional life, Chip’s personal interests include hiking, backpacking, and tennis. In retirement, he plans to dedicate more time to these enjoyable pursuits, along with some home improvement projects.
Enjoy your well-deserved retirement, Chip! The ERI team will miss you.
